How it works

The process of buying your home

In order to purchase or rent a home from us in Essex, Kent or Sussex, you will need to apply to www.helptobuyese.org.uk and supply us with your reference number. There is no application process in London but there is eligibility criteria for buying a home through shared ownership regardless of where you purchase.

Who is eligible?

Your annual household income cannot be more than £80,000 (£90,000 in London). You should be unable to purchase a home suitable for your needs without assistance. You cannot be a current home owner (or be named on the deeds of another property). You must not have any outstanding credit issues (i.e. unsatisfied defaults or county court judgements). Once you have done this, you will then progress through three easy steps.

Register and create an account

Please register and create an account with Moat to access your online dashboard. By doing this, you will have access to information about new homes, resales and homes to rent.

Attend a viewing

If you receive details of a property that you are interested in and you meet the eligibility criteria, you will then be able to reserve the property off plan or view and reserve the property.

Begin the purchase process

If you are successfully allocated a home to purchase you will appoint a solicitor and arrange a mortgage. If you are successfully allocated a home to rent you will be informed of your anticipated tenancy start date.
